Do What You Love

Right now you might be thinking about making some changes in your life. You hear yourself saying “I want more of this, and less of that.” This is really important. It’s important to know it, it’s important to feel it. It’s important to admit it.

But it’s not ok to act on it without taking a step back from it for a few steps first.

So today I’d like to go through the steps required to help you do what you love and love what you do.

  1. Before you act on anything make sure that you are on track with were you are now. A person who has disturbed situation or stress will potentially do  knee jerk and create even more stress in the future. So we have to make sure we’re not functioning and therefore acting from that place of desperation or confusion. Simply put I call this: GYST – see if you can work out that stands for?
  2. Be thankful for what you’ve got. Anything you build that comes from the place of ingratitude is going to sabotage whatever you build in order to create gratitude for what you already had. Sort of like a cat chasing its tail. So in other words use thankfulness as the foundation on which you build the future and that way you won’t slide back into old problems or repeat the past unnecessarily.

  3. Be really clear to eliminate any infatuation from the future plans that you have. What does this mean? If you think that something you’re about to create over the next 12 months is going to cause you more pleasure than pain then you have approached the future with the naïveté of a teenager and you will get the emotional turbulence of a teenager.

  4. Before you start making plans on paper as to how you’re going to create this future make sure that you sit down quietly under a tree and picture it in your mind. Follow the understanding that if you can’t see it in your mind you can’t create it in your reality. Try to eliminate the sense of emotional gratification from the outcome that you picture in your mind: simply see yourself skiing down the slope, building a business or getting married or making a baby without all the emotional expectations that come with it. This is really crucial because if you start injecting the emotional gratification that comes with the outcome you will not have the strength to manifest it.

  5. Start the manifestation process

  • Train yourself to know that nothing is in the way only on the way. This is confidence. You must remain supremely confident that the universe or whoever the higher power you associate with is on your team and is helping you move in the direction of your outcome and that it has put an education process in place to cause you to create exactly what you want but not necessarily along the path that you thought it would take. Anyone who has created anything worthwhile has had the ability not to be distracted or discouraged by obstacles that come in the way but has found a way to work through them. This means going deeper rather than running sideways and giving up.
  • There are states of mind that will cause the future you want. There are also states of mind that will sabotage it. To avoid repeating, sabotaging or even being distracted and therefore delaying the result we want, we need to find those four states of mind.
    • The focus of an athlete
    • The clarity of genius
    • The calm of a monk
    • The love of a newborn baby
  • We can summarise these four states of mind with: gratitude, presence, certainty and love. This space causes manifestation. Any other space, emotion or thought causes of de-manifestation. Sometimes we indulge ourselves with doubt and uncertainty. Sometimes we get distracted with our sport, work or parties taking over our mind and therefore focusing us on low priorities. It’s important to recognise that these choices delay outcomes.
  • There is a need on a daily basis to reinvent yourself to keep pace with change. When you envision something in the future the thing you envision and how it gets manifested changes on a daily basis based on the evolution of humanity and therefore you need to adapt, flex and change with it.
    • Unlearn a thought see the balance in something that once you held solid
    • Your body is your temple. If it doesn’t make it to the finish line healthy, all else is ridiculous. so it is a key to focus on your cellular health, not how you look.
    • Modify your environment
      • at work – organise, supervise and deputise
      • at home do something lucky for yourself in nature like become thankful for the smallest things possible, flies, ants, a flower. get as loving and simple as you can for the smallest things you can. This is vitality building.
    • Re Prioritisation. – Self worth comes from focussing on priorities. Make sure everything you do  focusses on that one single thing you call your single most important outcome. For example; if you say “I want to own another house in 12 months” work for it, exercise for it, eat for it, read for it, … nothing happens if we have too many disconnected focal points. Remember, life itself draws us to the lowest priority because it’s usually the most immediately gratifying thing to do. But the pain of regret always outweighs the pain of discipline.
    • Keep your eye on the horizon, some people call this meditation, or contemplation but the most important thing about it is that the process contextualises things in a way that makes small things not the end of the earth. When something small happens we need to know it’s something small, not blow it out of all proportion. Don’t let small things become big things. Keep perspective. Always come back to the bigger picture that puts everything in context. Life can easily draw us down, we need to draw ourselves back up by keeping our eye on the horizon on a daily basis. That can mean putting pictures of that destination on the wall, writing affirmations in a iPhone or taking time out each day to reflect on what we’re creating and why.
    • Every day we need to coach yourselves. There’s an old expression which says “don’t read the comments.” Simply that means in your Facebook posts don’t read all the comments because what you’ll end up with is a balance of negative questioning challenging people just expressing their point of view balanced by others doing the opposite, and if you start seeking only positive comments on your posts or work or life or love, you’ll be run by the lowest common denominator in your life. What we’re trying to do is coach ourselves. A good coach will reward and reinforce and encourage and give positive feedback on the things that you are doing well and will not focus on the negative. Be your own best coach. It’s not a bad thing to learn because if you’re good at coaching yourself you’ll be good at coaching others. There’s plenty of negative things that happen in the day, a wise person knows that there are both positive and negative things in the day and focuses on the positive.
    • Finally focus on results by measuring them. All too often people are living on the emotional guesswork of wondering how things are going instead of focusing on the facts which can be quite reinforcing and if they’re not, can provide opportunity for adjustment. Hope is the lowest form of human emotion. If you live on hope you’re living on a knife-edge and that is no way to run a life or business that will turn you into an emotional basket case and probably mentally unhealthy. Great decisions are not emotional decisions. Hope is the last-ditch.
